TAXI FARES INCREASE FOR MILLENNIUM
The City Council’s Licensing
Panel has approved a request from the Coventry Taxi
Association to charge two and half times the standard fare on
the eve of the new millennium. An earlier request to charge
treble the standard fare had been rejected by the Licensing
Panel on 11 March, and discussions with the Taxi Association

UP
Coventry people will have to
find an extra 7.9% in council tax under a radical Coventry
Community Plan announced by the city council today. The
average council tax bill for a household with two or more
people will be £682 in Coventry for the year 1999/2000.
Houses in Band A will pay £35 a year more, those living in
houses in the top rated Band H will have to find an extra

In a landmark case on Thursday
14 January 1999 the City Council took Hearsall Golf Club to
court for wilfully damaging two mature oak trees that are
protected by a tree preservation order. At Solihull
