Traffic Calming For Wood EndCoventry City
Councils Environment and Transportation Policy Team have given the go ahead to two
lots of traffic calming one in Wood End, one in Stoke Aldermoor.
Paid for out of Single Regeneration Budget money the work will include two road humps
on both Woodway Walk and Woodway Close in Wood End and three road humps on The Lindfield
in Stoke Aldermoor.
Councillor John McNicholas, Chair of the Environment and Transportation Policy Team
said,
"Local residents have played a central role in deciding the best way of making
their community safer and I am delighted that some of their suggestions are about to
become a reality. The traffic calming in both areas will slow down drivers and make the
roads safer for pedestrians, especially children and older people who tend to be more
vulnerable."
The work which will cost £6,000 in Wood End and £5,000 in Stoke Aldermoor is set to
be completed this year.
NOTES
Traffic calming in The Lindfield was left out of the wider
traffic calming scheme which was installed in Stoke Aldermoor in 1990 because it was
identified as an important route for West Midlands Fire Service. A review of their routes
across the city has taken The Lindfield off the srategically important roads
list and the fire service are now happy for traffic calming to go ahead.
