Coventry people are to be asked for
their views in a questionnaire drawn up as part of a comprehensive review of the
citys Refuse Collection Service.
Following recent public concerns about the bank Holiday collection system, Members of
the Councils Environment and Transport Policy Team set themselves the task to
consider how under the realm of Best Value the Refuse Service should be
changed to meet peoples needs.
The short questionnaire is included in a leaflet which will be distributed at all
Coventry households shortly. It asks people for their views on the current service
provided, holiday collections and recycling of household waste.
Councillor John McNicholas, Chair of the Environment and Transport Policy Team said:
"I hope people will take a few moments to respond to our questionnaire. Missed
collections over holiday periods have been a topic for discussion for a while now and one
which I am not only determined, but very keen to resolve. At the end of the day refuse
collection is a service which affects peoples quality of life every week and in my
view we need to move it on to ensure its a service that people want."
The leaflet also includes details of arrangements put in place for the Christmas
Holiday period, a competition to win £25 and information on recycling your Christmas tree
and the opening times of he citys Waste Reduction site at Whitley.
Councillor McNicholas added:
"On the Christmas refuse front, I would like to apologise to Coventry people for
the disruption which is going to occur to the services this year, but assure people that
we have tried our best to keep this to a minimum."
