CITY COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
OFSTED Report Praises Parkgate
Primary ProgressGood quality teaching, very
good relationships between pupils and staff and significant efforts to promote good
attendance at the school are just some of the reasons why Parkgate Primary School have
received the praise of the OFSTED inspector.
The report indicates that attainment overall through the
school is broadly in line with national averages in the core subjects and with national
expectations in the foundation subjects and RE. Rapid progress was noted at both key
stages in Maths as a result of the school's involvement with the National Numeracy
Project.
Although teachers know their pupils and plan well for them,
more formal assessment procedures are required; a need already identified by the school.
Partnership between parents and the community was
recognised as sound overall with the head teacher and senior management team providing a
clear educational direction combined with thoughtful and sensitive leadership.
Mrs Nanson, Chair of Governors, said:
"I am pleased that our achievements have been
recognised and the report reflects the areas the school had already identified for
development. Teamwork is the key to our success. And together we will continue
to move forward."
