Primrose
Hill Lodge, in Hillfields, is celebrating its 30th Birthday on 11 March,
1999. A birthday cake will be cut by the current Lord Mayor of Coventry, Cllr Maggie
Rosher and also Margaret Brassington, who was the Lady Mayoress present at the opening
ceremony in 1969.
Primrose Hill Lodge is a purpose built residential unit for older people, accommodating
30 residents in single rooms on a single level and is located within its own grounds and
extensive gardens.
The home aims to provide a flexible and accessible service to older people on an
individual basis as part of a comprehensive package of care, by offering a positive
service to residents and Day Car users. The residents are encourages to participate in the
formulation of rules to retain their own life-styles within the group setting.
Cllr Rosher said:
"I am delighted to be invited to the Birthday party to mark this special occasion.
The success of Primrose Hill Lodge has been built up on its philosophy that the home
itself is run by the residents. The belief in this philosophy by both residents and staff
has greatly contributed to the achievements and will, I am sure, continue to prove
successful in the future. Heres to the next 30 years."
