COVENTRY CITY
COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Appeal For Help - Missing WomanCoventry Social Services are appealing for help in tracing a woman
with known mental health problems after she failed to return to her accommodation at
Belgrave Lodge.
Ida Newent, 74, a resident of Belgrave Lodge since August
of last year, went out with volunteer transport group Crossroads on Monday. During
the outing Ida indicated that she would prefer to return to her own home rather than to
Belgrave Lodge. Belgrave Lodge was informed of this. During her time at
Belgrave Ida has occasionally spent time at her home. A provision of her care plan
means that on nights spent at her own home Ida is contacted at 8pm and again at 8am to
ensure all is well.
When there was no reply to their usual call on Monday
evening, the social service emergency team was called and inquiries began. The
police were contacted and the decision was made to force entry to Ms Newent's home.
Ms Newent was not at home and has not been traced since.
Police and social services teams are now joining in
appealing for help to trace Ms Newent. Social Services stress Ms Newent is not
regarded as a threat and that concern centres on her own safety.
Ida Newent is described as 5' 8" tall, well built but
not overweight, with straight grey hair worn in a chin length bob style. Ida wears
glasses and on Monday was wearing a dark pink and blue patterned dress, black shoes, a
blue raincoat and was carrying a black handbag and shopping bag.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Martyn Wilkins
or Jan Clark of Coventry Social Services on 01203 520329, or the police on 01203 539040. |
