CITY COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Canley Residents To Save MoneyCanley residents can save money and energy, by visiting an energy
efficient showhouse, to be opened on Thursday 8 October 1998 at 2pm at 39 Gerard Avenue,
Canley, Coventry by Cllr Peter Lacy, Chair of the City Councils Housing Policy team
and Professor Wyn Grant of Warwick Universitys Politics and International Studies
Department.
Local people will take part in a European project between Warwick University, Coventry
City Council and Coventrys Energy Action Project, researching social exclusion and
climate change, looking at low-cost ways of increasing comfort in their homes whilst
saving both money and energy.
Professor Wyn Grant, Warwick Universitys Department of Politics and International
Studies said:
"David Cessford, our researcher, will be asking questions about the way people use
energy in their home, as part of a European project on the environment and giving
low-energy lightbulbs to all those people helping us with the questionnaires. We are very
pleased to be able to work with the residents of Canley on this project, and with all the
other people and organisations that have contributed to make sure the project
happened."
Cllr Peter Lacy, Chair of the City Councils Housing Policy team said:
"This project will help local people not only to save money, but also help them
make their homes are more comfortable too. It will show that you dont need to spend
a lot of money on improvements to save money on fuel AND save energy."
