Two new courses centred on providing support for people with
learning disabilities are being introduced at Coventrys Sherbourne Fields School.
"More than Supporting" is for people who would like too, or who already do
support the education of people with physical disabilities. It is an 11-week course, which
costs £22, but is free to people receiving benefits.
"Introduction to Counselling" is for people with physical disabilities who
would like to gain counselling skills in order to support other people with physical
disabilities. It is a 12 month course which costs £60, but is also free to people
receiving benefits.
Barry McFadden, adult education co-ordinator at the school, is hoping to begin the
courses as soon as he has a minimum of eight people enrolled on each one.
Councillor Joe Clifford, Chair of Coventry City Councils Educational Excellence
Policy Team, said:
"Courses such as these provide an excellent opportunity for people to gain skills
which will help them to help others. I am sure they will prove to be popular and useful to
the people of Coventry."
To find out more about enrolling on either course please contact Barry McFadden.
