The Government has announced the
national annual award for major works and repairs in schools, Coventry being granted a
share of £632,000.
Whilst not sufficient to meet the total school premises needs within the City, the
Council welcomes Government policy of attaching a high priority to the premises needs of
schools.
The resources will be considered as part of the City Councils overall approach to
maintaining land and buildings.
Councillor Joe Clifford, Chair of Education Excellence Policy Team said
"While this allocation is permission to borrow rather than actual cash, it
is still welcome and will enable us to enhance the environment in school for both children
and staff. This will make the delivery of the curriculum more effective."
