A
high profile mix of councillors and council officials are visiting Coventry, between 26
and 28 January 1999, confident that they can learn from projects, which have been
pioneered in its twin city of Coventry.
In particular, the delegation and their counterparts will discuss; Crime prevention,
police and local partnerships and the Development of small businesses in the community.
The programme includes seminars as well as a visit to Little Park Street police station,
and a meeting with the owners of small businesses in Foleshill.
The visit will also provide an opportunity to discuss the development of twin city
links including European projects vocational training links and an urban regeneration
European network.
Cllr Maggie Rosher, the Lord Mayor of Coventry, said:
"I am delighted that this return visit is taking place and am particularly
interested in my counterparts views regarding crime and how to combat it."
Cllr John Fletcher, leader of Coventry City Council,
said:
"This visit is an ideal opportunity for discussion on projects which are of
interest o both communities, to exchange information and to further develop a working
relationship with one of the citys most active international links."
Superintendent Jim McGinty, commander at Little Park Street said:
"We are delighted to receive our guests who are greatly interested in the
partnership approach to crime in Coventry, the success of which is being recognised beyond
the city."
