Minister Richard Caborn is to get a birds eye view of Coventry and
Warwickshires major areas of regeneration in a whistle stop tour tomorrow.
The Minister will take a thirty minute helicopter flight over the city to see for
himself the sites for proposed regeneration in the centre and northern boundary of
Coventry and the areas of recent business expansion right across the city. He will also
look at the Coventry and Warwickshire and Walsgrave hospital sites proposed for the new
Superhospital.
He will be accompanied on the flight by Cllr John Fletcher, the Leader of Coventry City
Council, and John McGuigan, Director of City Development.
Cllr John Fletcher said today:
"This is a golden opportunity to show Richard Caborn hoe successful Coventry and
Warwickshire is at regenerating run down or disused areas of the city. We have developed
some of the best business parks in the West Midlands and schemes such as the Phoenix
Initiative and Arena 2000 in Coventry will generate more jobs for local people and put the
region firmly on the map. In this short flight the Minister will see scheme after scheme
demonstrating Coventry and Warwickshires commitment to regeneration, job creation
and city pride."
Richard Canorn is in the West Midlands area today primarily to attend a meeting of the
Regional Chamber.
