Coventry
City Council has today released the first draft of the Economic Development Plan for the
forthcoming year.
The Economic Development Plan for 1999/2000 has a central role to play in the
regeneration and rebirth of Coventry and it sets out six strategic aims which will help
the City Council tackle the important issues of job creation and economic regeneration.
The 23 page Plan covers a range of initiatives which will help to get Coventry working.
From our involvement in New Deal to support for local business and from developing Whitley
Business Park to running training programmes for the unemployed, the plan details projects
to the tune of £83 million.
Councillor
Nick Nolan, Chair of the Economic Regeneration Policy Team said:
"Coventry is a great place to do business and creating the right climate for
economic prosperity and strong growth has been the number one priority for the city
council over recent years. Our Economic Development Plan is central to the successful
regeneration of our city as we strive to create a better quality of life for the people of
Coventry."
Over the next few days draft copies of the plan will drop on to the mat of everyone
that has an economic interest in Coventrys future. And as from Wednesday copies will
also be available in all local libraries so that everyone can have a read and tell us what
they think.
