A total of £1,22,093
grant will be brought into the city by five new projects, which have been approved, under
the second round of EMPLOYMENT.
All five projects will be delivered through Community Education working in partnership
with the voluntary and private sector.
The projects are as follows:-
The Development of Key Skills by improving the currency of key skills with
employers and providing programme for over 200 adults.
Learning for Local Development by engaging local people in 10 innovative pilots
in order to create routes to employment and economic activity in areas of multiple
disadvantage.
Increasing Access to Employment and Training for Adults with Physical or Sensory
Impairments by supporting trainers in accessing employment, becoming self-employed
or starting small businesses and / or co-operatives.
Parents Into Training And Work by testing out with European partners the
approaches that provide for the best guidance for women and the pathways that are required
for them to progress into training and work.
Part-time vocational Programmes For Women In language skills, IT Interent Skills
and European Awareness backed up by guidance, quality childcare and transport costs.
Councillor Kevin Maton, chair of training policy team said,
"This is fantastic news for Coventry, and since EMPLOYMENT concentrates on groups
facing specific difficulties in the labour market and supports both vocational training
and job creation activities for these groups, it will give hope and provide opportunities
for those members of our society who are often those most in need."
