Thanks to a City Council initiative
more unemployed people in Coventry are set to take S.T.E.Ps towards a brighter
future.
Designed by The Pacific Institute (TPI) the S.T.E.Ps programme Steps To
Excellence for Personal Success was piloted last year with amazing results.
60 unemployed people, some of whom had never worked, completed the three day course
which covers elements such as goal setting and motivation techniques. Today, 19 of them
are in a job and 12 have gone on to further education and training.
Commenting on the course Councillor Nick Nolan, Chair of the Economic Regeneration
Policy Team said,
"The S.T.E.Ps programme is a unique course which aims to give unemployed
people back their self confidence, self belief and self esteem. Its about enabling
Coventry people to reach their full potential so they have the best possible chance of
getting a job."
There are six courses set to run before the end of March with a further eight planned
sfter that. Anyone wishing to know more about the courses should contact Jeanette Edwards
