WARWICKSHIRE
- OUR COUNTY 1998-2001
Priority : CrimeTo reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
The Governments new Crime and Disorder Act 1998 puts
a joint responsibility on the County Council, the District Councils and the Police to find
ways of reducing crime and of helping communities to cut crime. We are working with the
newly formed Crime and Disorder Partnerships and communities to support ways of reducing
crime and tackling peoples concerns about crime.
Targets:
- We will provide cash each year from our Community Safety
Fund for local anti-crime projects and, in partnership with the Heart of England Community
Foundation, we will obtain additional contributions from private businesses.
- We will, with our partners, carry out an analysis of crime
in each district and find out the publics concerns by February 1999.
- We will work with our partners to publish local strategies
in each district spelling out how we will combat crime over a 3year period,
including targets, by April 1999.
- We will, in partnership with Health colleagues, meet
government targets for 1999 in assessing, reducing and managing the risks posed by people
with severe anti-social mental health disorders living in the community.
- We will, by April 2000, develop a Youth Justice Plan in
conjunction with the Probation Service and other agencies working with young offenders to
reduce the risk of offending.
- We will aim to reduce the rate of offending for children in
care, for 1999 and 2000, making it closer to the rate of the local population.
