High flying Nuneaton Borough manager Brendan Phillips believes
his current squad is good enough to hold its own in the Conference if they fulfil their
potential and romp home with the Dr Martens League championship.
Borough are going strong nineteen points clear of the chasers at the top of the
division and in the eyes of most people are a cinch to win promotion.
They are at home to mid-table Salisbury tomorrow but Phillips is taking nothing for
granted.
"It will be tough," says the manager. "Teams in the lower half of the
table can be banana skins and we have not met Salisbury this season. We play them again on
their ground in about three weeks time, so we have to approach this game with
caution."
Borough will be without goalkeeper Richard Williams who is suspended for this match and
his place will be taken by Kevin Shoemaker.
Phillips meanwhile is casting his eyes over his squad and assessing its strength in
readiness for the step up to the Conference. He says:
"I have signed Andy Kiwomya, an ex-league player, but I think we are only three or
four bodies short of a side which could do well at the higher level.
"The majority of the current squad can do the job and I dont foresee
wholesale changes."
