League leaders Nuneaton Borough fielded a much weakened side but
still had enough to win through to the quarter finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
They left out five of the players who overcame Ilkeston to open up a nineteen points
gap at the top of the league, and were a goal down on the hour.
But a double strike in five thrilling second half minutes was enough to take them
through to the next round.
Stourbridge took the lead when Scott Colcombe scored with a low shot which evaded
goalkeeper Paul Shoemaker. But the score proved to be the spur Borough needed.
They were level within ninety seconds when substitute full back Leigh Everitt thundered
in a shot after Kevin Wilkins effort had rebounded from the crossbar.
Three minutes Nuneaton went ahead when Joey Connor headed home to end a seven match
spell without scoring. Borough then held out to the final whistle to go into the draw for
the last eight.
Nuneaton Borough: Shoemaker; Healy (Everitt 41 mins), Prindiville, Simpson, Jennings,
Angus, Wray, OToole, Wilkins, Kirkup, OConnor (Dyer 80).
