Borough missed a great opportunity to increase their massive lead
at the top of the division when they missed a penalty kick in injury time.
The runaway leaders were forced to settle for a draw when most of their rivals for the
championship were defeated.
Nuneaton, who face a tough group of holiday matches, had the perfect start when they
took the lead after just seven minutes. Joey OConnor skipped past two tackles and
crossed the ball for Coventry City youngster Gavin OToole to slot the ball home.
Borough threatened to run up a big score but Cambridge switched around their playing
pattern and the game became more even. They equalised in the 63rd minute from
the penalty spot when Steve Prindiville was forced to concede a corner kick from which
Terry Angus handled the ball. Andy Kiwomya converted the spot kick.
But Nuneaton thought they had reclaimed the points in the fourth minute injury time
when OConnor was fouled in the penalty area, but Nicky Rust dived to his left to
save Ian Muirs penalty.
