Borough's grip on the top of the table slackened with this poor
performance against the bottom table side.
A big crowd at Manor Park expected to see Borough run up a comfortable victory
especially after their thrilling FA Cup victory over Atherstone United in midweek.
But it was the proverbial banana skin game for Borough. The bottom club dug in and no
matter how Borough tried they could not break them down.
Borough's fans have been used to seeing their side score plenty of goals but the
chances were very few in the face of some stout defending. Barry Williams shot over early
on and top scorer Malcolm Christie fired straight at the goalkeeper.
Typically in such games Dorchester could have won it. They twice went close to scoring
before half time and the squandered the best chance of the game early in the second half.
Borough's nearest rivals Gresley Rovers won their match at Cambridge City and are only
two points adrift.
