Foot And Mouth Spreads
In County
A
third case of foot and mouth disease has been discovered in Warwickshire,
while restrictions have been put in place in a suspect abattoir.
The
latest case was discovered at Canal Farm in Tuttle Hill, Nuneaton, in the infected
area set up since the discovery of cases at Fenny Drayton and Top Farm in
Higham Lane.
And an
abattoir in Rouncil Lane, near Kenilworth has been served with forms by
government officials who believe there might be a case there.
The
case could be in a live animal or carcass, but restrictions are put in
place to prevent the risk of the disease being spread further.
It is
the first suspected outbreak in the middle of Warwickshire - all the
previous cases have been in the Nuneaton area.
Land
to the west of Stratford is also in an infected area because of outbreaks
in Worcestershire.
Noel
Hunter, director of Trading Standards at Warwickshire County Council said:
"We
are working closely with MAFF to try to contain the spread of the
disease.
"The
infected area currently designated is unlikely to change because of the
close proximity of the infected farms.
"We
thank the public for their support during this time and would urge them
to continue to respect any warning signs relating to the disease."
