Christine Oddy will
be hosting her last visitors trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg before the
European election in June 1999. Forty constituents from the Coventry and North
Warwickshire constituency will be following her work in Strasbourg on Tuesday 13 April.
As Christine will be speaking twice on Tuesday her constituents may be lucky enough to
hear her speak in the debate on the proposed new law on information and consultation of
employees in Companies of more than fifty. Christine Oddy has written an opinion on this
for the Legal Affairs Committee. Christine will also be speaking in favour of
"electronic money" which is being promoted by the European Commission.
Christine has also tabled a question to Commissioner Monti on the same day asking him
how the Commission proposes to ensure that Europes borders are not patrolled in a
racist manner. This follows a meeting with him earlier this year when a number of specific
complaints were raised with him.
"Strasbourg weeks are always busy but it is rather unusual to have a visitors
group out at the same time as a speaking hat trick" stated Christine Oddy.
