Coventry
and North Warwickshire Euro MP Christine Oddy will be joining members of a top flight
delegation from the West Midlands when they visit Brussels next week to press the region's
case.
Members of the West Midlands First campaign will be in the city for a hectic two day
round of meetings on Wednesday and Thursday (27 and 28 January) with parliamentarians,
officials, bankers and businessmen as they fly the flag for their home region and keep up
to date with European developments.
But while pointing out the advantages of the West Midlands as an attractive place for
overseas investment, they will be stressing the case for parts of the region to continue
to receive European funding, the future of which is currently under review.
Ms Oddy will join the delegation at a meeting with West Midlands Euro MPs and at a
reception which will be addressed by Sir Leon Brittan, the European Trade Commissioner.
She said:
"Fighting for the West Midlands has been top of my agenda ever since I was elected
to the European Parliament and I will be doing everything I can to support the West
Midlands First delegation who represent a real cross-section of the region's life."
