MP Christine Oddy will take a look at one of Coventry's industrial success stories when
she visits Peugeot's Ryton plant on Monday (21 December) to take a look at the company's
new 206 car which went on sale last month.
The Coventry and North Warwickshire MEP's day starts with a presentation on the new
model to guests from Christophe Gauthier, Peugeot's Manufacturing Director.
It will be followed by a tour of the plant which is currently building 2,500 206s a
week, a figure which should increase to 3,400 by the middle of next year, by which time
the recently announced third shift will be in operation. Later there will be an
opportunity to ride in and drive the car which was number seven in the Britain's car sales
'top twenty' in November.
Ms Oddy said:
"The success of the 206 both here and in mainland Europe is very good news for the
Coventry area and bodes well for the future of Ryton and the 2,200 people who work
there."
