MP Christine Oddy will be in the hot seat at a Coventry conference on Thursday (10
December) when she is quizzed on who really runs her home city.
The Coventry and North Warwickshire MEP will face the questions from BBC Radio CWR
presenter Stuart Linnell who will conduct the stage interview at the Coventry Common
Purpose conference on governance. The event will examine how to get real consultation and
participation in local government.
Coventry Common Purpose is an independent educational organisation which aims the
improve the way the city works through increasing the number of people who are actively
involved in shaping the future of the area in which they live and work. It is backed by
leading organisations and companies including Coventry University, Peugeot, National Grid,
AGCO (Massey Ferguson), Axa Equity and Law, The Chamber and Coventry Health Authority.
Delegates to next week's conference represent a wide range of public, private and
voluntary organisations in the city and surrounding area.
Ms Oddy said:
"Who really runs the city? - Its an interesting question and no-one should expect
that there is an easy answer. But I will be doing my best to examine what is a very
complex issue."
