Coventry and
        North Warwickshire Euro MP Christine Oddy will be joining speakers at the Cuba Solidarity
        Campaign reception and rally at next week's Labour Party conference in Blackpool.
        She will join Labour MP Tony Benn and the former trade union leader Ken Gill, who
        chairs the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, at the meeting which will focus particularly on
        education as well as looking at the current situation on the Caribbean island.
        Other speakers who will later take part in a discussion include Steve Sinnott, Deputy
        General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers and Ivei Gonzalez Orlandi, from the
        Federation of Cuban Students.
        Ms Oddy said:
        
          "I have always been very interested in Cuba and was very impressed when I visited
          the country to see the enormous progress which had been made in education and tackling
          illiteracy, which has now been almost totally eliminated."
