Young Persons Views Sought On Spon StreetA
judging panel will meet today to consider plans for the multi-million pound refurbishment
of Spon Street. The panel which will meet at 2pm in Committee Room 4 will include senior
councillors and council chiefs and representatives from local community and traders
organisations.
Also present will be two young people from the Spon End
area. Kirsty Noble (aged 11) a pupil at Spon Gate School and Alexander Norman (aged 12) of
Waveley Road will give a young persons perspective to the plans which will introduce
artistic panels to the street and create a feature on the site of the old Spon Gate.
Work will begin at the beginning of June and will include
the length of Spon Street including the Spon Street subway. Completion of the work is
timed to coincide with the opening of the new Leisure World complex in September.
