VIGIL
DATE: Wednesday 7 March 5.00 until 7.00pm
Every Wednesday evening for three years there has been a vigil outside the Belgrade Theater from 5.00 until 7.00pm calling for an end to the sanctions against Iraq. On 7th March there will be a special vigil for the suffering from anemia according to a UN report in April 1999, 5,000 Iraqi children are dying every month as a direct result of the sanctions. We welcome both men and women to join us for this candlelit vigil.

The Workshops..
Arts and creative workshops.. to beheld at Herbert Art gallery Workshop

Workshop 1. Prepare for the banquet, join a costumes artist to make medieval headware. 11am

Workshop 2. The Edible Women. Celebrate the creative and fun side of food, make giant jellies and cakes and eat the women you make. 2pm

Workshop 3. “Turning Personal Tragedy & Experience into a Professional Way of Life to Help Others” Confidence Building and Public Speaking Skills. Speaker JUDY LEDGER Founder Baby Lifeline

Workshop 4. “Parenting Yourself” Historically and socially women in particular and encouraged to put their own needs to one side and look after others, this workshop explores this concept and looks at how you can parent yourself.

Workshop 5. Alternative Therapies. Experience Aromatherapy, Skincare, Remidial Massage, Indian Head Massage, with demonstrations and a chance to have a go.

Workshop 6. Video Workshop. If you’ve always fancied yourself as a bit of a Kate Adie, now’s your chance to have a go at being a roving reporter. Video workers from the Depot Studios will show you how to film and edit your own news report direct from the Women’s Conference using up-to-date digital technology. This is an opportunity to either show your stuff in front of the camera or learn what goes on behind the scenes. Either way, this will be a fun and challenging experience and perhaps the start of a brilliant careers!

*Learning 9 skills such as assertiveness, problem solving, communication, conflict resolution, discipline, acceptance, relationships, responsibility and confidence building
*Personal development exercises
*Learning and teaching values.

Workshop 9. Information Technology & Conferencing with women across the world. 

Learn how to get connected. The World Wide Web as a positive force for women.

Workshop 10. Video Workshop. 

A repeat of workshop 6.

The council House has full access for disabled people. The days events are free Displays by Community Education, City Libraries, Sathyaa Sai Baba Centre of Coventry, Amnesty International, Sports Development and “home produced flags” made to support the theme of International Women’s Days.

Guest visitors to include Judy Ledger from Baby Lifeline, Margaret Rylatt City Archaeologist and Jane Williams, a district nurse who for the last few year has made trips to Romania to work with local women and nurses to encourage and teach communication skills to enhance their bonding with disabled children.
