King Henry VIII Teacher
Granted Conditional Bail
John Skermer, a senior teacher at King Henry
VIII School, has been granted conditional bail after appearing before Coventry Magistrates
Court yesterday on child pornography related charges.
The 51 year old maths teacher and head of Year 7 at
the school has been charged with taking an indecent photograph of a child, possessing an
indecent photograph of a child and distributing indecent photographs. The charges relate
to 1 January 1980.
Skermer, of Chapelfields in Coventry, has been granted
conditional bail until 9 June.
The bail conditions are that he:
- lives at an address in Salisbury Street, Devizes, Wiltshire
- report daily to Devizes police station between 6pm and 7pm
- stay out of Coventry except to attend a disciplinary meeting
with King Henry VIII representatives at a solicitor's office in Coventry and to attend
prior arranged meetings with his solicitor and to attend court
- have no contact with King Henry VIII school, staff and
pupils except the head of the maths department and deputy head of the school.
