Chips
Are Frying At The Ikon
A
Coventry nightspot will get the pulses of the city’s women racing
after being chosen as a tour stop for a real life version of The
Full Monty.
The
British Chippendales are currently embarking on a full tour of the
UK and will be strutting their stuff at SkyDome-based Ikon Superclub
on Thursday 2 August.
The
four dancers have previously worked with their American counterparts
and regularly travel to Europe and beyond to woo the ladies.
SkyDome
manager Ian Knight said the 2,400-capacity venue had jumped at the
chance of playing host to the country’s leading male review.
He
said:
“We
have had a sports model of the year competition at the club which
allowed some of the country’s best looking women onto the Ikon
catwalk - we felt that we should even up the balance.
“The
British Chippendales are one of the most popular acts of this kind
in Europe and only appear at big venues because of their
popularity.
“The
UK tour has proved hugely popular for them and we are delighted to
be hosting the Midlands performance.
“I
am sure the ladies of Coventry will turn out in force - I have
noticed that several of my female staff have already put
themselves down for the night off on the rota!”
A
spokesman for Big Bang Management, the company responsible for
taking the tour round the country, believes Ikon will prove a
perfect venue for the show.
He
said:
“The
atmosphere and capacity of the SkyDome clubs should ensure that it
is great fun, the British Chippendales are looking forward to
appearing in Coventry.
“There
are several acts of this kind but these are widely accepted as the
genuine article – so far the UK tour has been hugely
successful.”
