Baby
Pops Up At Jumpin Jaks Charity Do
The
manager of a city nightspot was, quite literally, left holding the
baby after a charity event at the weekend.
Jumpin
Jaks' boss Andrew MacLeod had to rush from a fundraising night to
the labour ward at Walsgrave Hospital to see his wife give birth to
a baby boy.
And
the beaming new father will be popping back to make a delivery of
his own as the charity evening at the SkyDome based live
entertainment bar was, by coincidence, in aid of the hospital's
Special Care Baby Unit.
The
event raised over £1000 for the unit and MacLeod is thrilled about
his new arrival and delighted to hand over the money.
He
said:
"Mum
and baby are fine and doing absolutely brilliantly - I am just so
proud.
"The
charity night at Jaks was absolutely fantastic but I am sure
everyone will understand why I had to rush off!
"The
whole weekend brought the event a bit closer to home for me and
made it clear what a worthwhile cause we were serving. We are just
pleased that we did not require the services of the Special Care
Baby Unit after the birth.
"The
staff at the hospital are very grateful for the efforts of the
people in Coventry for raising so much money.
"Every
charity night at Jaks has had a great atmosphere as people seem to
embrace the chance to have a really good time while helping
others.
"I
have no doubts that we will hold more fundraising evenings later
in the year when the revellers in Coventry will come into their
own once again."
