Boxers Tag On To Kickboxing Showdown
Fight
fans in Coventry will get the chance to see two of the city's
hardest hitting boxers as they have never been seen before this
weekend.
Local
favourites Neil Simpson and Dean Pithie will come face-to-face in
the ring at the 4,000 seat Skydome Arena on Saturday, in a tag-team
match with a difference.
The
champion fighters will dress up in drag for the bout to raise money
for Childline as part of an evening of World Championship
kickboxing.
Unconventional
comedian Joe Pasquale is hosting the event at the Arena, where
Coventry kickboxing welterweight Perry Benn will compete for a
European title and super welterweight Richard Leeson is aiming to
win the British belt.
Promoter
Stephen Donnelly, a former British and European kickboxing champion,
believes the presence of Simpson and Pithie will help make it a
night to remember.
He
said:
"Neil
Simpson and Dean Pithie are two of the most well-respected men in
the business and it is great news that they are taking part in
this event for such a worthy cause.
"It
promises to be a fantastic evening and I am sure fight fans in
Coventry will be delighted to see two of their heroes in a new
light.
"The
whole idea of the evening is to bring kickboxing to a wider
audience and people like Dean and Neil will do that."
Fights
from the bill will be screened on Sky Sports.
Tickets
for the event are available from the Skydome Arena box office or by
calling 024 7663 0693.
