Spandau
Star Set For Coventry
One
of the 80's top stars is looking forward to his first performance in
Coventry.
Ex-Spandau
Ballet frontman Tony Hadley has rejoined with other former band
members Steve Norman and John Keeble for a one-off UK tour.
The
tour will include a gig at the SkyDome's Jumpin Jaks venue on
Tuesday 15 May. The ex-Spandau trio will be joined on the bill by
fellow 80's sensations Go West. The event is expected to be a 900
maximum capacity sell-out.
While
with Spandau Ballet, Hadley toured the globe singing smash hits like
'Gold' and 'Through The Barricades', and has since embarked on a
successful solo career - but Coventry has never before been a tour
stop for him.
He
said:
"It
is quite surprising because Coventry is a big city but we never
performed there with Spandau, and I have not sung their solo
either.
"I
have been to the city before to visit but it will be great to
think that fans in the area who have not had a date nearby will
get one all these years later."
And
Hadley has urged fans of the former Spandau trio not to miss out on
the live appearance - as it may never be repeated.
"The
three of us have got together for fun and I honestly see singing
like this as a holiday from my solo work which is very time
consuming at the moment.
"We
will certainly never do another album or start releasing new
singles, we are happy getting up on stage and treating people to
the hits they loved before.
"This
reunion is just about fun - so it should be a great night.
"I
have been told that some of our songs are the most played tracks
in Jaks, hopefully when the crowd hear us perform them live there
will be a great reaction."
To
ensure anyone going to the event gets full 'live experience' Hadley,
Keeble and Norman will be backed by a full band.
Hadley
said:
"To
be fair they are a fantastic band and the sound in an intimate
environment like Jaks should be phenomenal.
"The
three of us are really looking forward to the date because we have
a great time performing like this - we are still great friends and
I think that shows on stage."
There
are still some tickets for the Hadley, Norman and Keeble plus Go
West show remaining, priced at £8.50 and available in person from
the box office at the Jaks entrance or using major credit cards by
calling 07000 353637.
