T'Pau Classics
Come To Coventry
A
Coventry night spot will fill with the sounds of one of the
best-loved songs from the eighties later this month.
Carol
Decker will visit SkyDome-based Jumpin Jaks on Tuesday 27 March to
perform some of the smash hits which propelled her to fame as lead
singer of T’pau.
Decker
burst onto the music scene with the hit 'Heart and Soul' in 1987 but
became a household name after recording 'China in Your Hand' later
the same year.
That
track was the longest serving number-one of the year after staying
on top of the charts for five weeks, and Jaks' manager Andrew
MacLeod believes the impact of that is staggering.
He
said:
"Whenever
you say the name Carol Decker to anybody they always mention
'China in Your Hand' - it was a massive hit.
"The
track has appeared on more than 150 compilation albums and I am
sure there are not many people who don't possess a copy of it in
one form or another.
"Having
the opportunity to play host in Jumpin Jaks to someone who has
achieved that kind of success is fantastic and we are all looking
forward to Carol Decker's appearance.
"We
have made it our aim to bring top performers onto the Coventry
live entertainment scene and I certainly think someone who
achieved world-wide sales of over four million albums
qualifies!"
After
touring the country as support to world star Bryan Adams, T'pau
achieved the rare distinction of a quadruple platinum selling album,
'Bridge of Spies' and also released hit single 'Whenever You Need
Me'.
Decker's
visit to Coventry is part of the Miller Genuine Live entertainment
tour, which brings top names from the music world into the 10-strong
Jumpin Jaks chain across the UK.
Tickets
for the event can be purchased from the Jumpin Jaks box office at
the SkyDome Coventry complex.
