Judge To Deliver
Verdict On Coventry Club
A
leading Radio One DJ has given his verdict on Coventry nightlife by
choosing to perform in the city ahead of several top venues.
Judge
Jules will appear at the 1,800-capacity Ikon Superclub tomorrow
after hearing positive feedback about the venue.
The
club recently played host to Jules' colleagues Trevor Nelson and
Artful Dodger, something SkyDome manager Ian Knight believes
prompted his decision to follow them into the Coventry DJ box.
He
said:
"Judge
Jules is one of the most famous and well respected DJs around and
has achieved rave reviews worldwide.
"We
are delighted that he is coming to the city because he receives
requests to perform all over the globe - I know that he has played
to huge crowds in Argentina, Australia and a host of other
countries.
"His
interest in appearing at Ikon stemmed from a growing reputation
that we are gaining in the industry thanks to high praise from the
likes of Trevor Nelson, Artful Dodger and other artists who have
appeared here.
"It
is fantastic for us, but also for the city that Coventry is
becoming the talk of the Radio One staff-room - that always used
to be an honour reserved for the top London clubs."
Judge
Jules, real name Jules O'Riordan, gained his nickname for being one
of the few DJs to hold a degree in law, and Stavros Poulos from
promoter Cosmic Entertainment believes Jules now lays down the music
rules.
He
said:
"The
rise of dance music owes a huge debt to Judge Jules and his
determination to bring it to people's attention.
"He
is renowned for spotting some of the countries top tunes well
before they hit the charts and his opinion is one of the most
respected in the industry.
"Who
knows, maybe Coventry clubbers will get the opportunity to hear
some of the summer's biggest tunes a few months before everyone
else.
"Tickets
for the event are selling extremely fast and we are expecting them
all to go well before the night."
Tickets
for the event can be purchased from the Jumpin Jaks box office
priced £10.
