Kids Get Ready For First Birthday Bash
Coventry
teenagers are all set to celebrate the first anniversary of an event
which has put them on the map.
The
'Club Culture' nights held at SkyDome's Ikon and Diva outlets have
been providing local 14 to 17-year-olds with evening entertainment
for a year - during which time over 15,000 youngsters have been
catered for.
The
success of the concept since its launch 12 months ago has now led to
several other venues in the 250-strong Luminar Leisure chain using
Coventry's example as a blueprint for similar nights.
Now
SkyDome bosses, who empty beer taps, black out alcohol fridges and
remove gaming machines for the events, want to put on a birthday
bash to celebrate a year of 'Club Culture'.
The
party is on Tuesday 20 February, and SkyDome manager Ian Knight
believes it marks a major success for the city.
He
said:
"Coventry
and Warwickshire teenagers have really entered into the 'Club
Culture' spirit over the past year and we have had some fantastic
nights.
"The
idea has really been embraced by parents, schools and youngsters
alike - I think it was an age bracket that was not previously
being catered for.
"The
fact that so many other big cities and towns have followed
Coventry's example shows that was a nationwide trend and it is
great to think we have helped address that."
Tickets
for the event are available from the Jumpin Jaks-based SkyDome box
office and are priced at £6 - they can also be purchased on the
night.
However,
Knight is advising teenagers to snap them up early to avoid
disappointment.
He
said:
"Our
capacity of 1,800 means we can accommodate more youngsters than
most places around the country who run this kind of event but our
tickets still sell-out very quickly.
"The
majority of 'Club Culture' events we have held over the year have
been full to capacity and we are certainly expecting that on the
20th."
