Artful Dodger
Weaves Into Coventry
Coventry
is getting ready for a visit from the Artful Dodger - but it will be
tunes that are being picked and not pockets.
The
chart-topping duo, who have pioneered the rise of Garage music in
the UK, will appear at Ikon Superclub on Tuesday 6 February along
with Trevor Nelson (right).
Starting
as undergroud DJs on pirate radio stations, Artful Dodger picked up
a loyal following before moving towards mainstream chart music and
have pioneered the rise of Garage music in the UK.
Smash
hits such as 'Something', 'What Ya Gonna Do', 'Movin' Too Fast' and
club anthem 'Re-Rewind' launched them to the top of the music tree.
'The
Dodgers' have now notched up ten chart hits and released their debut
album, and SkyDome manager Ian Knight believes that Ikon will be
entertaining one of the most respected acts in the music world.
He
said:
"Artful
Dodger have a hugely popular show on Capital Radio and have had a
massive influence on modern music.
"They
paved the way for stars like Craig David and the reputation they
have is highlighted by the fact that he often does guest vocals on
their tracks.
"To
get them to perform at Ikon is fantastic for us - interest in the
event is greater than anything we have had before.
"Visits
to the Midlands are rare for them and fans of their music in this
area have not had many opportunities to hear them live.
"Having
them on the same bill as Trevor Nelson means that even with
capacity for over 2,500 people tickets are going to be in very
short supply."
Trevor
Nelson has scooped MOBO award success and host regular shows on MTV
and Radio One.
He
will be returning to the SkyDome complex for the second time after
hailing the development as a 'huge shot in the arm' for Midlands
nightlife.
