'Ricky
Martin' Brings La Vida Loca To Coventry
A
Coventry nightspot is ready to set female pulses racing by bringing
some Latino flair to the city.
Jumpin
Jaks will play host to Ricky Martin tribute La Vida Loca on 16
January.
Adam
Austin has been appearing as Ricky Martin since the singing
sensation took the British pop charts by storm in 1999.
After
winning rave reviews for his amazing resemblance to the artist,
Austin has secured bookings all over the country as a tribute to the
Puerto Rican-born sensation.
Jumpin
Jaks manager Andrew MacLeod admitted he was staggered at Austin's
vocal resemblance to Martin and said the 900-capacity venue would be
embarking on a search for the country's best tribute artist:
"We
have had some very talented tributes here and a lot of people
cannot believe how much like the artists they look and sound.
"Recent
appearances include tributes to Shania Twain and George Michael,
both of whom were excellent.
"La
Vida Loca have a fantastic reputation and their lead vocalist Adam
Austin has notable achievements as an individual artist.
"He
has appeared alongside Steps and All Saints and has recently been
in concert with Lou Bega, who created Mambo No5.
"As
well as Ricky Martin songs, the band perform other Latino style
hits including Club Tropicana, Copa Cabana and La Bamba.
"On
the 23 January we have booked Mikki Jay which is a Michael Jackson
show and we are expecting that to be very popular.
"He
must be one of the hardest acts to cover for because every time
you see him he has a different appearance."
Jaks
plays host to a different tribute act every Tuesday night with
admission free of charge before 10pm and £1 after.
UPDATE:
The tribute nights are now on Wednesdays, and La Vida Loca will
therefore be playing on 17 January and not 16 January.
