DEC 00] SKYDOME COVENTRY REVIEW - ABBAMANIA
Mama
Mia! Chilly But Fun
REVIEW
BY NICKI YOUNG
In
spite of the half-filled (and cold) arena this proved to be an
enjoyable evening’s entertainment for young and old alike.
Some
were reliving their youth, others were using it as a good excuse
to get dressed up in wigs, flares and glitter while others were
hearing Abba for the first time.
The
band themselves were very good, by far the best tribute band
I've seen. They were even asked to sign autographs at the end
- whether they used their real names or carried on
pretending they were Abba is anyone’s guess.
It
did start a little slow, but soon after the interval things
livened up as they brought out all of the famous songs.
My
particular favourites were Mamma Mia, Super Trouper and
Waterloo, which was wisely left as the encore song, as
recognised by everyone. By the end of the night the majority of
people were singing, dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
I
would definitely go to see them perform again, but I think they
would have been better in Jumpin Jaks on the night they have
tribute bands on.
Apart
from that though, it was a really good night. My mum would've
loved it!
