Shola
Ama And Garage Tour Come To Coventry
Shola
Ama is to lead an array of top musicians to Coventry as the Pure
Garage III tour leaves London for the first time.
The
SkyDome will play host to the platinum-selling compilation next
Tuesday in its first sortie from the capital.
Shola
Ama will be leading the musicians that also include Monsta Boy,
DJ Milan and One Step Ahead.
The
singer who was made famous after being overheard singing on the
underground is currently on a high after the success of her
second album.
She
shot to fame with catchy cover version Need Somebody and stunned
the music world by recording massive sales of her debut album
shortly afterwards.
SkyDome
manager Ian Knight believes that the event will be one of the
most popular ever to be held at the complex.
He
said:
"Shola
Ama is one of the country's most successful female singers and
has a massive following throughout the country.
"She
has won a glut of awards including MOBOs and a Brit - it is an
indication of what a big night this is for SkyDome that in the
summer Shola Ama toured France and played to an average crowd
of 28,000.
"With
that in mind I don't think the 2,400 tickets available for her
visit to Ikon and Diva will last too long!"
The
event is being promoted by Coventry company Cosmic
Entertainments Ltd and partner Stavros Poulos sees it as another
feather in the cap of Coventry nightlife.
He
said:
"The
Pure Garage III tour has not just Shola Ama but a variety of
top R&B and Garage names who have produced some of the
year’s biggest club hits.
"Monsta
Boy who was responsible for 'Sorry', DJ Milan and One Step
Ahead are all part of the entertainment and each in their own
right can play to big venues.
"The
show has not previously been out of London and the fact that
the artists feel that SkyDome Coventry should be an exception
is great for music fans in the city."
Tickets
are priced at £9 plus booking fee and can be purchased from the
SkyDome box office.
