Australian chart toppers
Madison Avenue are to hurtle round the nightspots of Coventry
and Rugby in a whistle-stop visit later this month.
The
Melbourne duo shot to fame in this country after releasing one
of the year's most popular songs - 'Don't Call Me Baby'.
Coventry clubbers will
be able to see them in action on Friday 29 September when they
take the stage at Ikon Superclub, and then will then race to
Rugby's Gas Street to perform later the same night.
Their second single
release 'Who The Hell Are You' has already plundered the number
one slot in Australia and is set to do the same in this country.
SkyDome general manager
Ian Knight is delighted they have agreed to perform at the venue
and is urging clubbers to arrive early.
He said:
"To bring an act
like this to Coventry is fantastic and we are certainly
expecting a full house.
"Madison Avenue
are responsible for a tune which has been adopted as the
soundtrack of clubs for the first half of this year so it will
be great to have them perform it live in Ikon."
Gas Street manager
Darren Smith believes that the second leg of Madison Avenue's
tour of the area is a landmark for Rugby nightlife.
He said:
"We have always
stressed that we wanted to raise the profile of the town's
entertainment and I believe with the events we are bringing
here that is now happening.
"There
are few bigger acts around at the moment and to have persuaded
them to Gas Street is wonderful - we put posters up last week
and the response has been massive."
