Lightning Puts The Brake On Motor Exhibits
Lightning hit the
British Museum of Road Transport in the violent storms of Friday,
leading to the closure of a small number of exhibits.
The building in Hales
Street, Coventry, was hit in the bad weather and staff are still
trying to put the show back together.
Some of the exhibits
remained out of action today, as the Bank Holiday has slowed down the
repairs. It is not known when the repairs will be complete.
Lucy Watkins,
spokesman for the MBRT, said:
“There were a few
problems and some of the museum, only a small part, has had to be
closed off.
“But we are still
open to the public. I think it has affected Memory Lane and some of
the sound systems.
“We hope we will
soon be able to offer the full service after this minor glitch. It
has affected one or two displays in a small area but we remain
open.”
The display with the
super car Thrust is currently being upgraded, and is not on show. The
museum said that area was not affected by the lightning strike.
