[20
DEC 00] COVENTRY AND WARWICKSHIRE PROMOTIONS NEWS
DJs Bring Their
Beats To The Streets
Top
DJs will be making the streets of Coventry rock to a variety of
tunes as part of the city’s free New Year’s Eve party.
Mainstream
entertainment will be provided under the Broadgate canopy by DJs
from Kix 96 from 8pm.
Accompanied
by a light show, the crowds will be amused by John Dalziel, better
known as the 'Tea-boy' from the Kix 96 Breakfast show.
Following
his set of party classics he will hand over to the Hot Evening
Show's Stephan La Touche at 10pm, who will be playing chart
favourites and dance anthems until 1am, with dancing led by the
famous Kix Kat.
For
those whose music tastes are more alternative, Shelton Square will
be the place to be, with “alternative beats, global rhythms and
funked-up party tunes”.
The
square will be turned into an impromptu club with special lighting
effects and backdrop cloths.
The
Stick Up Kids set the Shelton Square party off at 8pm with a mix of
soul, funk and hip-hop, before making way for festival favourite
Sammy String at 9.40pm with his deep funky house grooves.
V2000
Dance Tent and local Colosseum club favourite Jonny Mac (right)
takes to the turntable at 11.20pm taking the party into the New Year
with a selection of twisted beats, breaks and basslines.
Danny
Greene, Event Co-ordinator for event producers Coventry and
Warwickshire Promotions said:
"These
two shows promise to be excellent club parties - and they're free.
Those who brave the elements are guaranteed a good night out in a
happy atmosphere."
