Bus Service Laid On For Festival
The
organisers of the Godiva Festival are to lay on a special bus service
for festival-goers during the event this weekend.
Coventry
and Warwickshire Promotions will be funding a pick-up service around
the city centre and up to the event at the Memorial Park on Saturday.
There
will be a 12-minute service between 12.30pm (first service from city
centre) and 10pm (last service from park).
Fares
will be 55p adult return and 27p child return. OAPs travel free.
Pick-up
points in the city centre are the Park and Ride South bus stops in
Warwick Road, The Quadrant, Little Park Street, Broadgate, Corporation
Street, Queen Victoria Road and Greyfriars Road.
The
two West Midlands Travel buses will be marked Godiva Festival Special.
The
service is being provided to compensate for the closure of the Park
and Ride South bus service in the Memorial Park during festival week.
The
Park and Ride will be closed all day on Thursday for All Schools Day
and all day on Friday and Saturday for the Godiva Festival.
The
Park and Ride North service at Austin Drive, Courthouse Green is
unaffected.
Mick
Emerson, operations manager for the Godiva Festival, said:
"Because
of the events in the park the public will not be able to use the
Park and Ride South service on those days.
“We
apologise for that but we hope that our bus service on Saturday,
June 10 will make it easy for people to get to the festival from the
city centre".
For
festival information ring Freephone 0500 777200.
Don’t
forget that you can see CWN in the Lives and Times History tent in the
park on both Saturday and Sunday.
