Children Get Festive In The Park
Children
will be well catered-for at this year’s Godiva Festival with a
special festival all of their own.
The
annual Children’s Festival has moved from its regular home at
Coundon Court School to join forces with the main event in the
Memorial park.
Aimed
at the under-11s, it gives youngsters an opportunity to take part in
festival arts from all over the world.
Activities
include Maori face-painting, mask and garland-making, story telling,
jewellery, lanterns, banners and hand-painting.
There
will be a number of zones aimed at children of different ages,
including the Tiddler Zone for tots aged under four, which create
activities with a seaside-theme.
The
Games Zone will give youngsters the chance to try traditional games
from all over the world, like hopscotch and skipping, while the Body
Zone will let children understand how the body works.
The
event, organised by Community Education West, is not a creche but will
provide an extra attraction for the Godiva Festival.
Pete
Walters, of Coventry and Warwickshire Promotions, said activities for
children had been lacking in previous years.
He
said:
“Apart
from the fairground rides there hasn’t been much specifically for
children.
“This
will make a big difference, and we are hoping that it will attract a
lot more families to come along.”
