AND WARWICKSHIRE PROMOTIONS NEWS
Godiva On The Street In Festival Teaser
The
Godiva Festival is taking to the streets of Coventry tomorrow as part
of efforts to make the celebrations a week-long event.
Street
theatre will entertain crowds in the city centre to remind them of the
larger festivities taking place next weekend at the Memorial Park.
It
is part of a transition in the festival that will eventually see the
celebration last a week.
This
year there are activities on four days, with All Schools’ day being
held on Thursday, and music, a ceilidh and a motorcade starting off
the festival proper on Friday evening.
By
Saturday 10 June the main events field will be a maelstrom of colour
as tents holding a huge range of activities pop up.
Organisers
Coventry and Warwickshire Promotions have hedged their bets with the
weather this year, following two rain-soaked festivals.
There
will be a healing tent, a children’s festival, a green space for
environmental groups, stalls for charities and crafts and a variety of
music and entertainment.
You
will be able to meet staff from CWN in the Lives and Times history
tent.
With
the exception of a fairground, a show hosted by Kix 96 and a muster
display by the fire brigade, everything else will be under canvas.
Tomorrow’s
entertainment will take place in Shelton Square, Bull Yard and outside
the Museum of British Road Transport, where people will be able to sit
in classic cars from 10am.
Performers
will also walk around the city centre, entertaining shoppers from
11am. They include Cosmic Crumpet and The Chipolatas, as well as
Coventry-based clowns Wolly and Barney.
