City
of Coventry swimmer Adam Whitehead was expected to return home from Glasgow today after
collapsing at the British Short Course Championships.
The 18-year-old European champion collapsed after taking the 200m gold but failing to
break the world record. He had to be seen by a doctor but was not sent to hospital.
Coach Nick Sellwood played down fears for Whiteheads health:
"Adam had a bit of a rush of blood to the head when he came out of the pool and
couldnt see. He got rather caught up in the excitement of going for the record.
"But he has got to handle pressure because this is nothing like the pressure there
will be at the Sydney Olympics."
