Coventry powerboat champion Andy Chesman has been killed in an horrific crash in Germany. The accident happened on Sunday just a week after he had won the World 500cc Championship.

The 53-year-old World Champion was competing on Hamburg's River Elbe in front of his daughter Joanne when his boat was involved in the high-speed smash.

Chesman, involved in powerboat racing for over 30 years, was one of the senior figures of his sport and had escaped high-speed crashes in the past.

Chesman, who ran an engineering firm in the city, lived in Alleslley Green and leaves three daughters
