Coventry
'Bees' have one last chance this season of winning some silverware for their trophy
cabinet.
Their semi-final win over Belle Vue in the Craven Shield has given them another crack
at the all-conquering Ipswich 'Witches'.
They are hoping for a better result than when the two teams met in the final of the
Speedway Star Cup.
Ipswich on the other hand are keen to complete a clean sweep of all three speedway
trophies. It should be a titanic struggle over the two legged final, the first leg of
which is at Ipswich tomorrow night.
The return leg is at Coventry's Brandon circuit on Saturday and 'Bees' captain Brian
Andersen said:
"We wanted one more crack at Ipswich in a final, because we believe we can beat
them this time. We are all fired up and with Jason Crump guesting for us again, I can see
us pushing them to the limit in the first leg."
Coventry had no trouble beating Belle Vue on an aggregate of 99 pts to 81. They coasted
the second leg by 52-38 with Greg Hancock collecting 17 points and Andersen and Crump
scoring 11 points each. The other scorers were Andreas Jonsson 6, Shaun Tacey 5, Stuart
Robson 2.
