The
rugby lions together with the Warwickshire RFU, have succeeded in attracting a major
sportsmatch funding to facilitate their new South Warwickshire Schools Project.
The project, borne out of the successful Rugby in Schools project will provide a
massive impetus for the teaching and coaching of schools rugby within the South
Warwickshire area to children aged 7 18 years.
Club Marketing Manager, Caroline Scott and Warwickshire RFU Development Officer Ian
Bletcher who worked together on the application and sponsorship jointly said
"Following the successful pilot scheme with the rugby Borough, two Lions first
team players, Alwyn Davies and Club Captain Mark Ellis will work as full-time Schools
Development Officers covering the South Warwickshire post code. The Scheme will be
sponsored by Yarnolds Landrover of Stratford and Elisabeth The Chef and will develop into
a long term exercise providing Rugby for all sections of the community."
Caroline further added,
"This news is fantastic for the Lions and sees the start of our community
programme which will introduce more children and families to Rugby."
