Lions were in with a chance of overcoming the tough Yorkshire
side until they were hit by two tries in six second half minutes.
They led 6-3 at one stage thanks to two penalty goals from Martyn Davies. Tuipolotu
levlelled it with his second penalty goal and then Davies was the villain of the piece
which allowed Leeds to wipe out the lead.
He attempted to run the ball in his own 22 with centre-threequarter Adrian Gillooly off
the pitch receiving medical treatment, and Leeds punished him by opening up for Wendell
Sailor to score in the corner.
Then six minutes later an unfortunate ricochet saw Lions go further behind. Leeds scrum
half Christian Saverimutto crashed over and Tuipolotu converted.
There was no way back for Rugby although Davies did kick his third penalty goal of the
match.
